Tecan is committed to encourage and facilitate energy conservation. We proactively generate and act on energy-efficient ideas, and promote the use of sustainable energy throughout our business.

We have created a robust input process and well-supported Energy Committee to make it easy for team members to put forward their ideas which the business listens to and adopts where feasible – notably in terms of energy savings, recycling and recycled materials, packaging and single use plastics.

Tecan helps market leading organisations by providing precision micro parts to meet the growing demand for environmentally-friendly energy technologies, working with them to create solutions for (eg) hydrogen generation and storage, fuel cells and battery connectors. In turn, we believe it is important to protect the natural environment ourselves by using a sustainable energy source.

We acknowledge that by the very nature of the processes we employ in order to manufacture micro precision parts, hazardous chemicals are used. Resulting waste predominantly consists of acids and alkalis with no oil-based substances and very little solvent and we ensure we take an ethical approach to its removal. Compliance with Waste Producers Responsibilities UK is at the forefront of everything we do at Tecan Ltd and we regularly conduct a “Follow the van” exercise. This involves physically following our transported waste to its destination and auditing the process. In addition, we complete checks on all waste carriers to establish their registration is current.
