Instrument Control Engineer

Instrument Control Engineer

 

Are you looking for a new opportunity in a thriving manufacturing environment?

We are looking for an Instrument Control Engineer on a permanent basis in the Weymouth area to join our Maintenance team. This position will be responsible for monitoring automated systems via data dashboard/CMT viewer, maintain plant and equipment across the site to ensure equipment efficiencies in the production of micro precision metal components.

 

 

Key Duties:

 

  • Control and manage the inputs and outputs of the Effluent Treatment Plant monitoring system, resolving problems, and escalating and providing solutions to larger issues with the system.
  • Manage, review, and update the automated monitoring systems and equipment relating to the Chemical Etching Process
  • Identify, record and effectively communicate all changes and improvements identified and / or made to any of the systems to comply with Company protocols and enables continuity of operations
  • Research and maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of current and developing technologies relating to industrial measurement and control and undertake training to improve skills as required
  • Perform routine preventative mechanical and electrical maintenance checks in accordance with the Ultimo maintenance schedule.
  • Respond to both Mechanical/Electrical Breakdowns in a safe and timely fashion.
  • Assess, Replace, Program and Calibrate equipment such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Temperature Controllers, Inverters, Probes and Sensors
  • Work collaboratively with external service providers to review and update systems on a defined periodic basis.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Take part in the Emergency Response, Chlorine Response and provide out of hours Maintenance/Engineering “call out” support for the business

 

Key Experience:

  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley, RS Logix 5000 software.
  • Ability to collate, interpret and present data to assist fault finding/quality improvement.
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to discuss and explain technical subject matter both in ‘simple terms’
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven track record of problem solving through collaborative activity with colleagues
  • Energetic and proactive – Takes a ‘Hands On’ approach
  • Is flexible to undertake tasks as workload demands
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs to grade C or above including Maths, English and Chemistry
  • HNC equivalent in Engineering or Chemical Engineering / Photo Chemical Machining Processes

Laboratory Support Technician

Laboratory Support Technician

 

Are you looking for a new opportunity in a thriving manufacturing environment?

We are looking for a Laboratory Support Technician on a permanent basis in the Weymouth area to provide technical support with the extraction and analysis of chemical samples to a high scientific standard in support of our NPI and Production Manufacturing Processes.

 

Key Duties:

  • Process routine chemical samples to accredited procedures (ISO9001/ISO14001) including preparation, extraction and analysis
  • General laboratory/machine maintenance activities, including housekeeping, equipment cleaning & equipment calibration/checks
  • To support the preparation of reagents, test lab consumables, ordering and maintaining stock and resources
  • Recording and analysing data, using this information to write reports, reviews and summaries for stakeholders and management teams
  • Contributing to the Continuous Improvement process in order to reduce waste and/or improve efficiency, productivity and scientific quality
  • Develop and maintain effective communication and working relationships with peers, management, departmental project groups and other customers including Quality
  • To participate in training, as required by the business’ needs

 

Key Experience:

  • To participate in training, as required by the business’ needs
  • At least GCSE Level in Maths and English and Science
  • Basic computer skills
  • Enthusiasm to learn and apply new skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Must have some Lab experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment would be advantageous

Process Development Chemist

The ideal person will have knowledge of chemical related manufacturing processes, demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and experience in chemical reactivity assessment. IN this role, you will be responsible for planning and carrying out laboratory work to support both R&D and plant manufacturing. Evaluating R&D plant data to identify areas requiring process improvements.

Key Duties:

  • Carry out scheduled sampling/analysis to determine and complete the necessary additions in support of the manufacturing process.
  • Collate and analyse data ensuring that any change in trends is reported to the manufacturing team leaders.
  • Support the transfer of parts and / or processes into mainstream production. Upscaling / industrialising parts and processes developed through the R&D processes.
  • Manage the sampling process of the effluent treatment plant ensuring compliance is maintained.
  • Focus on process optimisation to see where we can gain efficiencies within our current processes and infrastructure
  • Research and recommend new lab technologies that enable increased efficiencies.

 

Key Experience:

  • Knowledge of chemical related manufacturing processes • Experience in FMEA and chemical reactivity assessment.
  • Material Science knowledge desirable but not essential • In depth knowledge of Lab, SHE/ Quality systems, and compliance
  • Knowledge of Photo Chemical Machining process technology and / or photolithographic processes desirable but not essential
  • Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Project work experience and proven record of solving problems
  • Excellent data interrogation and presentation skills.
  • Proven skills in delivering improvements using Lean / Six Sigma methods
